Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Purency scores cosmetic and personal-care products from their ingredient lists. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account: your e-mail address, or the identifier Apple gives us when you use Sign in with Apple (and the name and e-mail address you choose to share).

Profile (optional): name, photo, skin type, age range, goals, routine, ingredients you want to avoid, and sensitivities you choose, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding or products for babies. They are only used to show personal notes on results and never change a product's score.

Scans: the barcodes you scan, the photos of labels or packages and the ingredient lists you send, the product names you type to look a product up, and the results.

Community: the posts, photos, comments, likes and product reviews you publish, and the reports you send.

Technical data: IP address and request logs kept by our server for security and to prevent abuse.

We do not use advertising identifiers, do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell your data.

What other people can see

Products you analyse are added to the shared catalogue so other users can see their score, and a label photo you take may be shown as the product's image. Your posts, comments, reviews, name and profile photo are visible to other users. Your profile details (skin type, sensitivities, allergens) and your scan history are not shown to anyone.

Service providers

Anthropic (Claude API) reads label photos and ingredient lists, and estimates products that have no ingredient list, to identify the ingredients and write the explanations. We send the photo, text or product name and the barcode, never your profile or account details.

Open Beauty Facts: we look up barcodes in its public database. Only the barcode is sent.

Apple, when you use Sign in with Apple; our hosting provider (servers in the EU); and our e-mail provider, which delivers sign-in codes.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, posts, comments, likes, reviews and reports, and revokes Sign in with Apple if you used it. Your scans are unlinked from you: product results stay in the catalogue with no link to your account. Server logs are kept for a limited time.

Your rights

You can see, correct and delete your data in the app or by writing to us. Depending on where you live (for example under KVKK in Türkiye or the GDPR in the EU) you may also object to or restrict processing, and complain to a data protection authority.

Children

Purency is not intended for children under 13.
